I’ve often wondered why great civilizations fail. I’ve walked through the ruins in ancient Rome, Athens and Cairo reflecting on what one was. An I’ve always left wondering, “What in the hell happened?”
Now, I understand. I’m watching it happen to my country. With our nation engaged in a struggle to defend is civilization, I’ve seen my military brothers and sisters fighting valiantly and achieving countless successes on battlefields far flung. Yet I’m also watching as my fellow Americans, leading Democratic Party politicians, and the Left’s “hate-America” ideologues not only work tirelessly to subvert our military’s valiant efforts abroad but, simultaneously, have resolutely trained their cross hairs on our president, our institutions, our constitution, and our principles.
This awful but indispensable ideological struggle has done much more than reveal the valor and courage of our and military and the unfathomable evil of the enemies we face in ISIS, North Korea, Russia and China. What has shocked and dismayed me more than the enemy’s capacity for unspeakable horrors is the realization that millions of nominally “fellow Americans” willingly and eagerly joined our enemies cause. We are at war, both from without and within. The enemy within is the American Left—politicians, academics, journalists, non-governmental organizations, anarchists, and Hollywood.
As I pondered in Rome, Athens and Cairo, I now ask:
What country sends its men and women to war through national decree knowing some will give their all in sacrifice, some will return to broken families, or with broken bodies, many will return with broken dreams – yet wither in resolve at the first signs of difficulty and abandons the will to fight?
What country seeks to extend legal representation to those who would rejoice at dragging a cold blade across the throats of its own citizens? Similarly, what country would choose to have open borders to that millions of illegal aliens can enter, while simultaneously depressing the earning potential and livelihood of its own citizens?
What country grants a national stage and “absolute moral authority” to anti-American radicals while simultaneously denying the voice and moral authority of thousands of families of those who served and have served?
What country underwrites an educational system that cultivates hatred for the nation so deep that scholars openly cheer for the country’s defeat, and the deaths of its soldiers and law enforcement officials? What country allows these educational institutions do deny freedom of speech and equal access to voices of differing views and perspectives simply because these views do not neatly align with their own?
What country’s moral compass is so skewed that it worships popular culture, bestowing untold wealth, fame, and popularity on its actors and musicians even as their contemptible words and subversive actions demean our president, prop up anarchists and thugs, and embolden our enemies around the globe?
What country’s duly-elected politicians, often from both sides of the aisle, shamelessly exploit conflict, tragedies and verbal mud-slinging to promote and solidify their careers and line their bank accounts at the expense of the citizens who voted them into office?
I’m thoroughly disgusted to say my country.
Great civilizations don’t collapse because foreign invaders breach the fortress walls—great civilizations die because they rot from within. The American Left is seeking this outcome.
The American Left believes that our nation and our military are jackbooted heels to the throats of the world, no matter how evil our foe. We rape underdeveloped nations and cause poverty, famine, and tyranny. We – not self-defeatist cultures, murderous ideologies, tyrannical rulers, or stupid ideas—are to blame.
As the radical fringes drag along their more moderately liberal but increasingly impotent fellow travelers, they bring the war home. As they do, the unite in a de facto alliance with America’s enemies, their common causes fashioned from the belief that they share the same enemy – the United States of America.
Next week, I will be rolling out a new project, one that is designed to fight the insurgency within. It will be an interactive initiative and I hope that you will join me. For now, know this:
